I’m not big on sandwiches. I mean, I like Pret as much as the next person, but I can’t get too excited about sandwiches for lunch. This is why, during my working days, I spent a large portion of my salary on sushi places and back when I worked in Holborn, I was lucky enough to work within strolling distance of a Banh Mi Bay, the local Vietnamese.
Banh Mi’s are about the only sandwich that I am happy to eat for lunch and while these were a lunch staple back then, on a new visit to Banh Mi Bay when catching up with an old workmate, I went for one of their signature noodle dishes instead.
This is one of my favourite noodle dishes, one I have all the time and the one here is perfectly lunch sized. I’ve gone for the Garlic Pork and it’s just as garlicky as one could hope for, although perhaps a tad too garlicky if you were in fact going to eat this in the office, but since I’m not, I have all the garlic I can hope for.
We also go for some sides since we’re in a gossipping sort of mood and it’s prawn crackers and some moreish crispy spring rolls to wash it all down.
It’s a tiny little space but if you’re lucky enough to work in the area, the queues out the door every day will tell you that this is the place to get your lunch fix from!
